The only DPS Career and Technical Center to offer the new Career Academy program. High school students can earn a comprehensive high school diploma, an associate‚Äôs degree, heavy machine operator certification and paid internship through coursework in the construction trades. Courses are designed to give the student hands-on experience 5 days-per-week for the entire academic school year. This includes providing strong fundamental skills in the Construction, HVAC, electrical, and design career fields. First and foremost, students learn industry safety practices with an option to complete an OSHA-30 certification while learning technical writing techniques and extensive algebraic and geometric calculations supported by reading and math integration resources. Students also learn to use basic hand-tools and modern power equipment in fully functional labs located in our Career Technical Center.
