Win a Little Library

Want a little library of your very own?

Tell us why and win one!

Thanks to your generous donations, we’re building 10 new little libraries for Detroit. While some of these are going to the Detroit Parks Department for installation in city playgrounds slated for renovation, we’d like to see many of them in neighborhoods in and around Detroit. If you’d like a library and are committed to being a good steward, we’d like to hear from you.

*Help decide where the first wave of 313 libraries go. Winners will be selected, in part, by how many “likes” each entry gets.  Vote for your favorite entry by clicking the “Like” button at the end of entries.

I’m so excited that this movement has come to Detroit. A couple of years ago I saw a news story about one that a woman put up in her yard. Ever since seeing that, I’ve had the dream of doing the same. Since that time, it’s really caught on. I Googled “Small Libraries” and was astounded by the variety of libraries around the country.

The movement in our City has inspired me to get going on my small library. I’ve been collecting a variety of books and know I will be able to get donations. I plan to put it in my front yard with flowers and maybe a bench. Hopefully, I’ll encourage others in Riverdale (NW Detroit neighborhood) to do the same.
